A whole new meaning to drive thru
What do you say when your neighbor does this to you?

Everyone is okay; the house and car, not so much. Its looking like we'll be dealing with insurance adjusters and contractors for a WHILE. He came from the back side of the house and hit the gas meter, sheared it off of the house completely. It actually ended up off the right of this picture near the driveway.
Structurally, the house should be okay. But there are cracked floor joists and though not visible in this picture, there is clearly some extensive brick damage. The beautiful river birch to the left of the car was hit pretty badly as the car deflected from the gas meter and squeezed between the house and tree, most likely in the air judging from the foot deep hole where the car landed.
Squirrel was in the office (room that was hit) when this happened. He says he thought a bomb exploded or something. The call I received made it sound much worse than it is, not that this is good. The news channel hellicopter flew overhead; the firemen, gas company and police were all here...
I can't wait for my next gas bill. The technicians that replaced my gas meter said the new meter would most likely be well more than my deductible...since I would be paying for the 25' back hoe they brought in case they needed to dig up the yard to lay a completely new line. Luckily that wasn't necessary, but none the less we will be charged for its services.
